Students may attend Balanced Family Academy of Powell all day on the days they do not attend class at their primary program, including alternating Wednesdays.
We also provide morning and after school care, as well as transportation on the days students are scheduled to go to their primary program.

Building Confident Readers
Through Exploration & Collaboration
We ignite a love of reading in our Powell kindergarteners by exploring a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts each week. Through lively discussions, vocabulary building, and hands-on activities, we foster strong comprehension skills and encourage critical thinking. Our students begin the year with ABC bootcamp, mastering letter formation and sounds. We help our kindergartners to grow as writers, creating informational reports and multi-page stories.
Kindergartners work to master the DOLCH sight word lists, as well as reviewing some from Pre-k year. In the afternoons, students engage in hands-on centers to practice reading, phonics skills, and sight word fluency- with the goal of learning 160 new sight words by year’s end! We work to build strong phonemic awareness utilizing the Heggerty curriculum. Each level of the Heggerty curriculum provides daily lessons focusing on eight core skills through activities to develop letter and sound recognition.

What are the hours of your full-time kindergarten program ?
The school day for students enrolled in full day kindergarten at Balanced Family Academy of Powell begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
Which schools do you provide transportation to?
Balanced Family Academy of Powell provides bus transportation to the following schools: Glacier Ridge, Abraham Depp, Eli Penny, Olentangy Elementary Schools, and Buckeye Valley West
When should I register my child for kindergarten?
We open kindergarten registration at Balanced Family Academy of Powell in February of the previous school year. We will offer our existing families spots before opening registration up to the remaining Powell community in March.
What is the ratio in your kindergarten classrooms?
Our Powell Kindergarten program staffs two licensed kindergarten teachers in each of our classrooms. The maximum classroom group size in each program is 28 students.
Do you have a kindergarten info night?
Yes, we do a virtual online info session in January. Balanced Family Academy of Powell will hold a “meet the teacher night ” a few days before school officially starts Mid- August. The start date is aligned with the Olentangy school calendar.
