A Letter To Moms: The Hero in Your Motherhood Story

Dear Moms,

You are awesome!
You are enough!
You are loved!

Now…repeat but replace “you are” with “I am”.

In case you haven’t heard it yet today, I am here to tell you that you are doing a great job. And to say THANK YOU for all you do. And, I see you.

I see you burning the candle at both ends.
I see you making the grocery lists while simultaneously doing the laundry so that special themed outfit is cleaned.
I see you making the doctors appointments while running to the parent-teacher conference.
I see you rushing to get them to practice on time while making sure they are fed and maybe feeling guilty because it was fast food.
I see you eyeballing the outfit at Target knowing that it will or will not fit without looking at the size tag.
I see you watching that movie for the hundredth time.
I see you packing the car and feeling like you forgot something.
I see you juggling all the things to make sure your kids experience the best childhood has to offer.
I see you because I am you too. And you are surrounded by more ‘yous” than you know.

As moms, we can sometimes feel we are alone or the only one doing things. Not necessarily because our other half does or does not help but because as moms we tend to feel we are the ONLY ones who can do it and do it RIGHT.

And I am here to tell you…keep going. Embrace the crazy. Know you are enough. Give yourself some grace. This is part of your motherhood story.

Because before you know it you will be nearing the end of the motherhood rush-around as you plan the final and ultimate parenthood event…their graduation. And just as the sigh of relief washes over you, the tears will begin to fall. Each one filled with the memories of these crazy moments in your motherhood story.

So keep going and keep doing your best even when you’re not at your best. It’s not a competition. It is your motherhood story and you are already the hero. And while your littles might not “see” everything you do right now, they will benefit from all you’ve done. There will be a day when your children are grown that you will share these stories together. It is then that they will be old enough to know that your motherhood story made it possible for them to begin their own chapters.

From one mom to another, I wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely,

Cassandra Pritikin, mom of two girls speaking from experience :)
